K'NEX Model Building Class (1 hour / 1.5 hours)
- Junior Builder Classes (Primary 1-3)
- Intermediate Builder Classes (Primary 4-6)
In these fun, educational classes, students will experience hands-on engineering fundamentals as they build models using K'NEX. K'NEX provides a curriculum which introduce children to engineering, architecture and scientific principles. Every class is a fun, enriching experience for your child, building new projects each week based on a variety of themes, using the K'NEX rods and connectors loved by generations of children since 1992.
LEARN STEM
At the beginning of every class, our teachers lead a storytelling session or discussion related to that day’s model. Instructional content is multi-disciplinary and designed by engineers and educators to increase the student’s general knowledge and introduces STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) concepts related to the day’s model. Lessons are designed around students’ interest, with themes such as animals, amusement parks and transportation. Kids will learn about everything from gears, pulleys and levers, to renewable energy and MORE!
BUILD MODELS
Kids experience the hands-on fun of model-building, from concept to completion. While exploring principles of engineering, architecture, physics and more, students will develop problem solving and critical thinking skills. All of our proprietary model plans are created by K'NEX designers.
EXPAND CREATIVITY
Free-play time rounds out the hour, giving kids an opportunity to develop and expand their creativity and imagination.
Educational and Development Benefits Include:
-
Build problem-solving skills whilst providing an opportunity for creative expression and fostering an appreciation of how things work
-
Develop critical thinking skills through design thinking processes
-
Reinforce STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) concepts by utilizing multiple learning modalities to engage visual, kinaesthetic and auditory learning styles. Different kids learn in different ways!
-
Develop social and emotional skills such as patience, teamwork and collaboration, and communication in the process of completing a project in a noncompetitive setting
-
Build self-confidence and self-esteem
-
Improve fine-motor skills as children manipulate small components and objects
-
Learn about Engineering, Architecture, Physics and Mathematics using specialised components
We are happy to work closely with teachers, tailoring our themed units and flexible time tables to match current curriculum needs.
